White Mountains Attractions Reopen with New Rides, Rail Journeys, and Animal Encounters
The White Mountains Attractions are gearing up for another vibrant season, following strong visitation in summer of 2024 that significantly contributed to the region's economy, generating an estimated $656.2 million and supporting nearly 25,000 jobs. Memorial Day weekend marks the highly anticipated opening of these beloved attractions, setting the stage for another memorable season.

“We are excited to welcome new visitors and past guests back for a summer filled with both cherished traditions and new experiences,” said Charyl Reardon, President of the White Mountains Attractions Association. “The unique experiences offered by our attractions and the region’s access to natural spaces for outdoor recreation have been essential in attracting millions of visitors year after year—strengthening our communities, supporting small businesses, and sustaining jobs for many residents across the region.”
Popular attractions such as the legendary Bear Shows and Wolfman at Clark’s Bears, scenic rides on the historic Mt. Washington Cog Railway, and the stunning natural beauty of the Lost River Gorge & Boulder Caves continue to draw visitors each year. Additionally, the 2025 season brings several fresh and exciting new experiences:
- Conway Scenic Railroad enhances its popular Mountaineer excursions with new summer round-trip journeys connecting Crawford Station and North Conway Village, providing greater accessibility for visitors throughout the region.
- Cranmore Mountain Resort will be offering a brand-new 65-foot inflatable ninja obstacle course and a dedicated play area for younger children at the Mountain Adventure Park when core summer hours kick off in June.
- Winnipesaukee Railroad, part of the Granite State Railway, launches “The Alouette,” a 4.5-hour immersive journey from Meredith to Plymouth, including a two-hour layover for dining and exploring local businesses, shops, and attractions.
- Living Shores Aquarium unveils five exciting new exhibits: Tina the Snapping Turtle, three American Alligators (exclusive to the state), captivating Moon Jellies, a vibrant Living Coral Reef, and a newly redesigned Education Corner featuring six interactive stations.
- The Mt. Washington Auto Road's base entrance has a new bridge and toll house which has already been put to use. One mile of the road on the mountain has recently been paved and resurfacing and widening projects have been completed on the upper sections of the road.
- Jim Miller, Marketing Director for Santa’s Village, shared his enthusiasm for the park's first full season of its newest feature, the Midnight Flyer roller coaster, giving guests the magical sensation of flying with Santa’s reindeer. "We're thrilled to have the new Midnight Flyer family roller coaster open and operating right from the start of the season in 2025. We introduced it in mid-June of last year, and it has been very well received by our guests, including kids as small as 36 inches tall, and the full-sized adults who can ride right beside them." Later this summer, the park will also unveil a brand-new Firehouse Dogs-themed attraction just for toddlers.
- Story Land's newest addition, Moo Lagoon, will celebrate its longest operating season yet. The new water play area will reopen on Saturday, May 24 and remain open to guests through Sunday, September 14. The theme park also invites families to experience "Neighbor Days," running weekends from June 14-29, featuring special story times, themed scavenger hunts, and dedicated children's entertainment.
