Great Escape Opens Friday, May 22

Park Ready to Delight Guests with Refreshed Attractions and Parkwide Enhancements All Season Long


Great Escape will open for the 2026 season on Friday, May 22. The park is ready to welcome back loyal season passholders, families and guests of all ages for a fun-filled season at the theme park and Hurricane Harbor, its outdoor waterpark. Both parks will begin daily operation starting Thursday, June 18.
 
The CometThe 2026 season includes enhancements and amenities aimed at maximizing value and improving the overall guest experience. The park has reduced the daily guest parking rate, introduced a simpler ticketing model, updated and added new menu items, and invested in infrastructure and landscaping to continue enhancing the park’s beauty, ambiance and theme.
 
“This season, we are focused on the entire guest experience,” said Andrew Burggraf, park president, Great Escape Resort. “Our team has been creating new experiences and adding value that touches every area of the park, including food and beverage, our refreshed parking area and more. Every step is designed to help us create fun, memorable visits that begin the moment our guests arrive.”
 
Food and beverage updates in the park include new Mexican Street Corn Nachos, a churros and pretzel cart, and dessert parfaits sold throughout the park.
 
Mexican Street TacosAdditional enhancements include:
  • A Hurricane Harbor waterpark refresh, including repainting all water slides
  • Raging River will debut a new rotating loading platform during the ride’s 40th anniversary season
  • The park’s landmark coaster, The Comet, will receive track improvements
  • The beloved Balloon Race family attraction will debut new paint and dazzling LED lighting
  • The debut of Timbertown Stage, which will host the all-new Timbertown Friends Dance Party
Great Escape Resort is also continuing renovations at the Lodge, including updated suites, new carpeting, operating system improvements and indoor waterpark infrastructure updates.
 
Earlier this year, Great Escape Resort was purchased by Enchanted Parks, the third largest privately held regional park operator in the United States. Great Escape has been providing family experiences for more than 70 years, and this new chapter continues the park’s commitment to that tradition.
 
In honor of Memorial Day weekend, Great Escape will offer complimentary admission to active and retired members of the U.S. military, National Guard, reserves and veterans May 23 through 25. Eligible military members may also purchase up to six additional single-day admission tickets for family members and friends at 40% off the gate price. The offer is available at the park’s front gate with valid military identification.
 
The BobcatGreat Escape season passes are on sale now, starting at $65.99 each. Season pass benefits include unlimited visits for the 2026 season to all eight Enchanted Parks properties, including Enchanted Forest Water Safari, located approximately two hours from Queensbury. Pass benefits also include free parking, food and retail discounts, early park entry, admission to Hurricane Harbor, Oktoberfest and Fright Fest, and bring-a-friend discounts.
