Alliance of Massachusetts Amusement Businesses and Attractions and allies launch joint effort to urge the Governor to re-open roller staking rinks immediately
Say COVID-19 regulations keeping them closed while ice rinks remain open lack reason
Boston, MA – Today AMABAA, the Alliance of Massachusetts Amusement Businesses and Attractions, Inc., the Roller Skating Association International and roller skating rink operators across the Commonwealth launched a joint effort to urge the Governor to re-open roller skating rinks immediately.
“It makes absolutely no sense that ice rinks have been allowed to be open for months, while roller skating rinks remain closed,” said rink operator Charlene Conway. “Our businesses have been forced to lay off hundreds of employees and are at tremendous risk of closing forever if the Governor doesn’t act immediately. We trust that our pleas will not fall on deaf ears, but we will be exploring all options including through the court system if this common sense re-opening doesn’t occur soon.”
Along with a targeted digital advertising campaign, AMABAA and their allies have launched an online petition asking rink patrons to join them in urging the Governor and his team to re-open the closed rinks immediately. The petition can be found at www.amabaa.com.
A GoFundMe page has also been set up to help the impacted rinks during their time of need. That link can be found at https://charity.gofundme.com/donate/project/open-roller-skating-inmassachusetts/amabaa.
